It is a unique opportunity to grow as a scientist as you contribute to the development of a young institution. QCRI offers me that, and I wouldn’t miss such a challenge

Research Focus at QCRI

My research focuses on the growth, evolution and settlement of social collective phenomena, with a special accent on political mobilizations and grassroots movements (such as street protests, civil riots, the emergence of consensus and the consolidation of electoral preferences). In this line, my interests focus on the underlying causal processes and dynamics in the unfolding of endogenous social events.

Previous Experience

Before joining QCRI, I was a research fellow at the Institute for Biocomputation and Physics of Complex Systems (BIFI) in Zaragoza, Spain. In those three years at BIFI (2010-2013) my research fluctuated from Cognitive Science (language retrieval, memory navigation and exploration) to Social Science (collective behavior emergence, information diffusion), within a common complex networks framework. Previous to that, I developed my PhD at the Universitat Rovira i Virigili in Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain), where I developed different research lines in Statistical Physics.

Professional Experience

  • BIFI (Universidad de Zaragoza), Research fellow, 2010-2013
  • Department of Computer Science and Mathematics (Universitat Rovira i Virigili), Assistant Professor, 2008-2010
  • Department of Psychology (Universitat Rovira i Virigili), Assistant Professor, 2005-2008

Professional Associations and Awards

  • PhD in Computer Science, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, 2011
  • MS in Artificial Intelligence, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, 2011
  • MS in Cognitive Science and Language, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, 2007
  • BS in Computer Science, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, 2007
