Research Focus at QCRI

Dr. Imran’s research focuses on mining of Social Media streams during mass convergence events by using big data analysis techniques such as text classification, data mining, and interactive machine learning.  Dr. Imran leads the research and development of Social Computing flagship product “AIDR: Artificial Intelligence for Disaster Response” in an effort to mine and classify information that can help stakeholders gain situation awareness.

Previous Experience

Dr. Imran has been actively working in the areas of information processing, information extraction, web engineering, and human-computer interaction. Before joining QCRI, Dr. Imran was a PhD candidate at the University of Trento, where he specifically worked in the Distributed Systems and Data & Knowledge Management research programs.
